SUSTAINABLE COTTON
BCI -
Better Cotton Initiative

We are a member of the Better Cotton Initiative. BCI aims to produce one third of the world's cotton in a more sustainable way. This is intended to reduce the environmental impact of cotton cultivation, increase farmers' incomes and strengthen the cotton industry as a whole.
Cotton is one of our absolutely favourite materials. The plant-based natural fibre is not only particularly kind to the skin. Cotton also has excellent absorbency. It is very hygienic, durable and uncomplicated to maintain. In the course of one year, we process about 300 tons of cotton. Unfortunately, standard cultivation does not leave our environment unscathed. Various negative ecological effects are the result. We want to counteract this by increasingly using cotton with certified sustainability certificates in our Collections.
GOTS and OCS certified organic cotton:

Organic cotton is grown according to strict guidelines that ensure only natural fertilisers are used to control pests. This supports the soil condition and neither biodiversity nor human health is affected. Efficient use of rainwater and better soil health can immensely reduce the amount of water needed. In addition, organic cotton also prohibits the use of genetically modified seeds (GMOs).
GRS and RCS certified
recycled cotton:
With recycled cotton, the resource-intensive phase of raw material extraction is omitted, making its ecological sustainability factor particularly high. It can come from either pre-consumer waste (such as production waste and offcuts) or post-consumer waste (such as worn cotton clothing). This requires technical solutions that enable cotton fibre recovery on a larger scale without compromising quality.
Care Tip

Just like any well-known cotton, sustainable cotton is extremely durable and uncomplicated in terms of its care. However, due to material blends, finishes or special prints, care recommendations may vary, so please always refer to the label.
