REAL INSTEAD OF PERFECT
“I think that we women often find it difficult to accept help and admit weaknesses. It’s my mission to show that nobody is perfect.”
You’ve built a successful cosmetics business around your brand
JACKS beauty line. Your Glowcast podcast focuses on health, selflove,
mindfulness – and inner glow. What do you mean by that?
For me, it means being content. With the way you are, how
you look and how you live your life.
Is it possible to learn how to bring out your inner glow?
Yes. Ten years ago, I was a completely different person.
Everything
was focused on what was lacking, it was stressful
and miserable. I think I had to reach that low point to
understand that I couldn’t continue like that. So I invested a
lot in myself, in coaching and therapy. That hurt sometimes
too, but the feeling of fulfilment now is priceless.
What did you learn about yourself?
For example, I used to think that nobody worked as well as
me and employees got on my nerves. This created a downward
spiral. I subconsciously put employees down, and they
couldn’t do a good job because they lacked confidence. It was
only through coaching that I understood that these negative
beliefs were the reason why I kept having the same conflicts.
Through your Instagram account, you inspire lots of people with
your charisma. What do you want to give them?
Things aren’t always perfect for me either. But I’ve learnt that
I’m responsible for my own happiness. I have the power to
decide whether a situation is wearing me down mentally or
whether I should look at it positively as a challenge I can
learn from. I want other people to have this insight. Since
I learnt to love myself, I’ve also managed to inspire people.
And finally, a more superficial question: What’s your trick to make
your appearance glow?
That’s not superficial – quite the opposite! The fifteen
minutes
that we give ourselves in the morning to apply lipstick
or put on a nice outfit are so important for our self-confidence
and self-love. When I wear my favourite outfit,
I immediately radiate a completely different power.
