BEHIND THE SCENES
Knitwear is at the heart of every Marc Cain collection.
Extraordinary patterns, innovative
knitting methods and outstanding finishes
show how much expertise and craftsmanship go
into every item. Production on a larger scale only
became possible with the introduction of
electronically
controlled knitting machines in
the 1970s. A lot has happened since then.
Today,
the company headquarters has a range of hightech
machinery comprising 115 highly specialised
knitting machines. 112 flat knitting and
three circular knitting machines produce
around 390,000 knitwear items per year, using
290,000 kilograms of yarn in the process. That’s
enough to go around the world 65 times!
